Kalonzo Musyoka Accuses Ruto of Betraying Raila by Appointing ODM Officials to Cabinet Without Prior Negotiation: “He Kept Calling”
Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Party, asserted that Raila Odinga was let down by President William Ruto’s choice to incorporate ODM officials into his Cabinet.
What additional comments did Kalonzo make about Raila?
Addressing attendees at the African Inland Church Milimani during a memorial service for Mbaitu FM journalist Mercy Mawia Mwangi, Kalonzo remarked that he had cautioned Raila not to expect a national dialogue or convention to take place.
Kalonzo also mentioned that Raila had requested Ruto to hold off on naming his Cabinet while he was away, but Ruto disregarded this request and appointed ODM officials anyway.

“So the rest of us agree that Ruto snookered Raila, who was himself very unhappy. He was calling him to tell him not to announce the Cabinet while he was away. But that is now water under the bridge,” said Kalonzo.
The leader of Wiper asserted that the Kenya Kwanza administration had brought ODM members on board without any prior discussion.
He further noted that the individuals chosen by Ruto were keen to integrate into the Kenya Kwanza government immediately, bypassing any negotiations or deliberations with the coalition.
“What has come clearly from the briefing was that the four members at the time were very keen to join Ruto’s administration without even a properly negotiated coalition agreement. Ni kama mtu akona hamu kuolewa,” Kalonzo said.
