    Jalang’o Rejects Finance Bill 2024

Langโ€™ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalangโ€™o has rejected the controversial Finance Bill 2024.

Speaking on Thursday, June 20 on the floor of the National Assembly, Jalangโ€™o said despite the bill being amended he has already made a choice to reject it.

He argued that the bill touches on issues that affect common members of the public adding that Langโ€™ata locals have come out to reject it.

โ€œI reject the Finance Bill 2024. Immediately it touched around everything that touches the common person, M-Pesa, the cars the pads and I looked back and saw the whole generation in Langata out here having their voices so loud even after the amendments I had to make the choice that I have made today,โ€ said Jalangโ€™o.

The Langโ€™ata MP went on to say he has spoken to President William Rutoa and has informed him of his decision to reject the Finance Bill 2024.

โ€œMost of you know I am a friend to the President and I spoke to him, he knows very well that this is my stand,โ€ Jalangโ€™o added.

The first-term MP is among Azimio politicians who pledged support for President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza government in 2023.

The proposed Finance Bill has received a backlash from Kenyans across the country especially from Generation Z who took to the streets on Thursday morning to protest against it.

The demonstrations were witnessed in Nairobi CBD, Nyeri, Kisumu, Nakuru, Isiolo, Garissa, Nanyuki, Kirinyaga, Kisii, and Kakamega.
