Fred Omondi Was Onboard Boda Boda When It Collided Headon with Matatu, Police
Comedian Fred Omondi has been confirmed dead by the police.
He lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on Kangundo Road early Saturday, June 15.
According to a police report seen by Gossipa2z.com, Fred was a passenger on a motorcycle traveling on the wrong side of the road.
The collision occurred near Consolidated Bank involving a matatu owned by Forward Sacco.
“The collision involved a mini-bus from Forward Sacco driven by Stephen Maina from Kayole heading towards the CBD and a motorcycle traveling on the wrong side (Consolidated Bank). As a result, the pillion passenger, Fredrick Odhiambo Omondi, died on the spot,” the report stated.
The rider sustained severe injuries to his legs and fractures in both hands, receiving treatment at Mama Lucy Hospital.
Fred’s body was taken to the hospital’s morgue for postmortem examination.
Fred was a prominent figure in Kenya’s stand-up comedy scene, alongside his brother Eric Omondi, and was notably featured in Daniel Ndambuki’s (Mwalimu Churchill) comedy shows.
Scheduled to host an event at BVB Lounge in Meru later that day, Fred’s sudden passing deeply affected fellow comedians and others.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko remembered Fred’s work, stating, “The late Fred Omondi was an MC and event organizer during my daughter’s graduation partyโฆ I pray God comforts and gives the Omondi family enough strength to sail through this storm.”
Ex-nominated senator Millicent Omanga lamented, “The creative industry has lost a gemโฆ May his soul find perfect peace.”
Daniel Ndambuki expressed his condolences, saying, “Rest easy Freddy. Very sad. That driver who hit you and ranโฆ I hope he/she will find it in their heart to come and apologize and condole with the family.”
