April Fools Prank? Larry Madowo Announces Exit From CNN
In what seems to be an April Fool’s Day prank, journalist Larry Madowo has announced that he will be exiting the Cable News Network (CNN) and returning to his former employer the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Taking to his X account on Monday, April 1, Madowo wrote “Some personal news: after 3 incredible years with CNN, I’m excited to share that I’ve returned to the BBC in Washington.”
He added: “Thank you for a great ride.”
Gossipa2z.com has however observed that despite the announcement Madowo has still not changed his profile bio which still shows he is an international correspondent at CNN.

The bio reads “Former BBC North America Correspondent. Nomad. Past lives in Joburg, London, New York & Washington.”
At the time of publication, CNN has not made any announcement on Larry’s exit as is customary to every other exit or appointment of their journalists.
His followers on his X, LinkedIn, and Instagram accounts have expressed skepticism as they believe Madowo is taking part in the once-a-year craze.
He joined CNN in 2021 after a 4-year stint with the BBC.
Madowo served as the BBC’s North America Correspondent in Washington, D.C and previously served as the BBC Africa Business Editor.
