Purple Tears for Holly: Emotional Funeral for Slain Teen
MOURNERS have gathered to bid farewell to a 15-year-old girl who was fatally stabbed.
On January 27, shortly after leaving school in Hexham, Northumberland, Holly Newton was stabbed in the street.
An unidentified 16-year-old boy has been charged with her murder.
Emotional mourners lined the town’s streets today in preparation for the teen’s funeral.
The white coffin of Holly was transported in a carriage drawn by purple-feathered horses.
A hearse carrying flowers with the word “daughter” arrived at Hexham Abbey for a funeral service.
Purple ribbons have also been placed throughout the town center, Holly’s favorite color.
Attendees have been asked to reflect on the schoolgirl’s life and share their recollections of her.
As a tribute to the teen, mourners will also be able to leave purple hearts on a canvas.

Holly’s mother, Micala Trussler, stated before today’s service, “We’d love for people to come and help us remember Holly. As a community, you’ve supported us so much, and we’d love for you to be a part of it.
“Once again, I appreciate your support during the most difficult period of my life.”
The tragedy occurred just after 5 p.m. on January 27 in front of Pizza Pizza.
Holly and her boyfriend stumbled into the takeout restaurant, where the shocked staff rushed to assist them.
She was taken to the hospital, but sadly, she could not be saved and passed away shortly thereafter.
Holly’s 16-year-old boyfriend sustained non-fatal stab wounds while attempting to save her.
The teen’s family previously eulogized the “bright and bubbly girl” who was “so devoted to her family and numerous friends.”

She was a much-loved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and cousin, according to a statement.
“Holly was always a well-liked young lady, not only in Hexham but throughout the entire North East.
“Holly loved dancing and was incredibly talented at it; she spent much of her free time attending classes and competing across the country.
We are still coming to terms with the fact that our beautiful and loving girl is no longer with us.
Our lives will never be the same without you in them. You touched so many hearts, and you will be greatly missed by your family and friends.
We would like to thank everyone in the community for their support and kind words on behalf of our family.
