Azimio Leaders React To Reports Of Junet Being Kicked Out Of ODM

On Sunday, January 21, Azimio leaders supported Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed, countering reports that suggested there were elaborate schemes to expel him from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Junet Mohammed was reported to have been issued a show-cause letter regarding his nonattendance at important ODM gatherings.

Furthermore, a local newspaper stated that if the parliamentarian fails to provide a valid reason for his absence, he could lose his leadership position within the party.

Guided by ODM Deputy Party Leader Hassan Joho, members of the Azimio coalition expressed disappointment over the perceived victimization of Junet Mohammed, who played a significant role in campaigning for Raila Odinga during the 2022 presidential election.

“Completely unnecessary and uncalled for,” the former Mombasa Governor posed.

In support, Makau Mutua who was head of Raila’s presidential secretariat stated, “No truer words have ever been spoken. Kenya does not have a finer patriot than Junet Mohammed.”

The Member of Parliament for Suna East also garnered backing from Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, who questioned the rationale behind his party’s significant decision.

Ledama pondered the anticipated conclusion and questioned why the opposition party wasn’t directing that same enthusiasm towards strengthening their political organization.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi additionally claimed that there was internal sabotage occurring within the ODM party, of which he is a member.

“The work Junet Mohammed did for Raila very few can do. If you are a top leader who served with Junet and you believe he spoiled campaigns as you watched, why didn’t you raise the matter then?” he posed.

He mentioned that Junet Mohammed was being made a scapegoat in the aftermath of Raila’s fifth unsuccessful attempt at the presidency.

Junet and Joho played key roles in Raila’s campaign, but after Raila’s defeat, they chose to stay away from the political spotlight.
