I’m tired! Maribe protests after the court postponed judgment
Former television news presenter Jackie Maribe has voiced her discontent regarding the delay in the verdict for the murder case involving the late businesswoman Monica Kimani, now rescheduled for January 26, 2024.
In her now-deleted Instagram post, Maribe expressed her frustration regarding the ongoing delays related to the issue.
“It needs to stop. For five years I have respected the court, but this is too much. Justice delayed is justice denied. Stop putting people’s lives in limbo. I’m tired of this,” she said.
On Friday, the court rescheduled the announcement of the verdict to January 26, 2024. This marks the second occasion where the involved parties have awaited a judgment, only for it to be deferred to a later date.
The first time the Judge was indisposed.
Lady Justice Grace Nzioka mentioned that she received the vital evidence necessary for deciding the case on Thursday, December 14, at 7 p.m., arriving quite late.
“I took time to write the judgment. We’ve made progress. But on Monday I discovered that when the file was sent to me not all exhibits were sent to me,” the judge said.

She described how, despite asking for the exhibits to be delivered on Monday, they were eventually received on Thursday, arriving in three bags.
Before the finalization of the new dates, Jowie Irungu, the primary defendant in the case and the ex-fiance, requested the court for an earlier date, specifically on December 21.
Maribe requested a date in January.
Later on, the parties agreed that the verdict would be issued on January 26.
Monica Kimani’s family expressed their dissatisfaction with the rescheduling, seeing it as a setback in the dispensation of justice.
Maribe and Jowie are being accused in connection to the killing of Kimani. Kimani’s body was discovered at her home in the Lamuria Gardens Apartment located in Kilimani, Nairobi.
The prosecution called 35 witnesses who testified against the two.
Kimani was brutally killed in 2018.
