Raila Hints at Supporting Kalonzo in 2027
Sunday, the leader of Azimio la Umoja indicated that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka could be the party’s presidential candidate in 2027.
Speaking in Migori county, the former prime minister revealed that he or Kalonzo will bear the coalition’s torch in an election that is anticipated to be fiercely contested.
Raila also seized the occasion to defend Kalonzo against President William Ruto’s jabs, in which the Head of State claimed that if Kalonzo is endorsed as the Coalition’s candidate, he is likely to win.
The opposition leader refuted Ruto’s claims that the president supported him more than Kalonzo and put his support behind his running mate.
“This man we have stood with him together since the KANU regime, we went ahead together and called NDP, we went to NARC and even to ODM and we have stood with him twice fighting,” Raila said.
Raila praised the Wiper party leader for remaining devoted to him and the political coalition despite their failure to win the presidential election.

Odinga stated that despite Kalonzo losing out on the running mate position, he remained loyal and supported the party’s quest for the State House.
“The man has courage, he is someone to believe in, he is a Christian, a humble guy, and loving, last time I heard Ruto saying that Raila won’t vie so I will have time for Kalonzo,” Raila said.
The former prime minister claimed that President Ruto’s recent remarks were an attempt to create a wedge between him and Kalonzo.
According to Odinga, Kalonzo supported him twice in his bid for the top seat, and he promised to return the favor in the future.
A week after Kalonzo’s response to Ruto’s criticism, Odinga has weighed in on the situation.
Musyoka, while addressing churchgoers in Mwingi Township, Kitui County, disregarded Ruto’s request for Raila’s support in 2027, given that Raila had supported him in 2007.
Kalonzo argued at the time that he is more deserving of Raila’s support because he has stood by him through thick and thin, whereas Ruto has only supported him since 2007.
