Orengo Announces Death of Chris Msando’s Mother

Maria Msando, the mother of slain Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT manager Chris Msando, has passed away.

Governor of Siaya, James Orengo, informed the family of her passing and extended his condolences.

“My heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and relatives of the late IEBC ICT Manager Chris Msando for the passing on of their family matriarch Mama Maria Msando.

“Mama had a magnetic personality and ability to care deeply for others that allowed her to cultivate many lasting relationships. May her soul Rest in Eternal Peace,” Orengo eulogized.

The news is devastating for Msando’s family, as the former ICT manager was discovered deceased days before the 2017 elections.

Her eldest son, Peter Msando, who spoke to the press, disclosed that she perished of multiple organ failure and had been hospitalized for high blood pressure and diabetes.

According to him, his mother fell into a coma on Thursday and was transported to Avenue Hospital in Kisumu at approximately 1:00 p.m. She was subsequently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but on Friday morning she passed away.

He noted that she became ailing after the murder of her son, which occurred a week before the elections.

Msando, who oversaw the computerized voting system for the IEBC, was discovered in a thicket in Kikuu Kiambu County.

Before his demise, the ICT director had only been on the job for two months.

His tormented body was discovered alongside that of Carol Ngumbu, a young woman aged 21.

His mother demanded justice for her murdered son, urging the government to bring his murderers to justice.

She added that she did not wish to perish before learning Msando’s fate.

“I am troubled. I have not been eating well since July. I am sick because my son who used to take care of me is not there.

“Now, I have only one plea to the Jubilee government, tell me who killed my son and why,” she stated at that moment.

Chris Msandoโ€™s widow, Eva Msando, with relatives during a memorial service for the slain IEBC official at Christ The King Church, Embakasi, Nairobi on July 29, 2018.
