24-Hour Partial Water Outage in Kampala Announced by NWSC
After the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) announced a shutdown on persons in the area, residents and business communities in the East wing of Kampala that are dependent on the Katosi water plant will be required to find alternative water sources for at least 24 hours.
This is because people in the area will not have access to the Katosi water plant for the duration of the shutdown.
The Corporation informed all of its customers and the general public in a message that was released on Monday night. That there will be day-long interruptions in water supply beginning at 8 am on April 25 to April 26, 2023.

According to NWSC, “the 24-hour shutdown will allow project contractors and NWSC engineers to undertake general maintenance of water treatment units, electro-mechanical systems, and inspection of underwater systems.” This will be possible because of the shutdown.
Mukono, Mbalala, Seeta Sonde, Ntinda Naguru Naalya, Bukooto, and the areas around them are some of the places that have been specifically named as being at risk.
The other regions include Namuwongo and Kira, in addition to portions of Butabika, Namanve, Najjera, Gayaza, and Kasangati, as well as the surrounding environs.
“24 hours is to allow us to work efficiently.” John Fisher Sekabira, the NWSC Public Relations Officer, explained in a phone interview with the Monitor regarding the subject matter. “24 hours is to allow us to work efficiently.”
He continued by saying, “What we are attempting to do is finish the work within the allotted time. So that we do not cause any inconvenience to our customers.”
