19-Year-Old Foreigner Falls in Love With a Kenyan Tycoon, Ends Up Serving Death Sentence

At the age of 19, Fatima Idd had a vision for her ideal life: completing university, securing a lucrative job, and eventually marrying the love of her life. However, her luck took a downturn following an unexpected encounter with a wealthy Kenyan businessman.

In an interview with Inooro TV, Fatima shared her story, describing how the wealthy individual exploited her innocence to engage in the smuggling of illicit goods and the theft of vehicles.

Fatima, who originated from Tanga City in Tanzania, opted to reside with her aunt in Kenya in 2019 during the extended break from university. She chose to spend her vacation in Kenya because of its captivating scenery.

She encountered a Kenyan residing at the border of the two nations. During their introduction, he clarified that he managed multiple enterprises bridging the gap between the two countries.

The two forged a friendship that eventually evolved into a romantic connection. Yet, several months into their relationship, Fatima remained unaware of the exact nature of her boyfriend’s business.

“I had spent nine months with him. He would send me to acquire goods from Tanzania from his contact personnel. He would warn me against mentioning his name to the dealers and I would oblige. So I would meet with this person, carry out the instructions and then take the vehicle loaded with the goods to a specific location,” she stated.

Day of Arrest

“One day, my boyfriend came home at 5:00 am and then four hours later, several police officers came and banged on the door. I opened and they demanded to know the man of the house,” Fatima disclosed.

“I informed them that he was asleep. They ordered me to call him. The officers sought to know whether I had knowledge that my boyfriend was a serial thief and I said no. I disclosed all the information that I knew as they began searching the house.”

The woman observed that the house was searched by the officers, and they eventually discovered counterfeit number plates concealed within it. Despite Fatima’s attempt to assert her innocence, she informed the officers that she was unaware of the illicit activities. Subsequently, the officers detained both individuals in connection with the accusations.

Uncertain about the whole scenario, Fatima admitted her guilt to the charges brought against her, unaware of the consequences of her confession.

“The following week I found out that I was the only one in court as my boyfriend was not at the stand. Till today, I’ve never seen him again,” he noted.

“When the charges were read in court, I pleaded guilty since I was involved in transporting the goods. To date, I still question my decision since I was innocent in all of this. The first count was robbery with violence, and stealing motor vehicles, among other charges.”

Fatima reported that the legal proceedings extended over several months, culminating in her receiving a 59-year prison sentence along with a death penalty.

“At the time, I was 19 years and worried that my life was over. My family is in Tanzania and did not know about what was happening. My decision to stay with my boyfriend led me to this hurdle.”

Fatima urged young people to make intelligent choices in order to steer clear of a life spent in prison.
