11 Questions Raised After Francis Ogolla’s Death

Hours after President William Ruto reported the unfortunate death of Chief of Defence Forces, Francis Ogolla, concerns have emerged regarding the mysterious plane crash that killed nine individuals along with the military chief.

On Friday, Babu Owino, the Embakasi East Member of Parliament, used his X account to highlight important questions regarding the fatal crash and called for prompt investigations.

The outspoken lawmaker questioned where the West Commander was when the incident took place.

The lawmaker also raised concerns about the locations of the KDF Sergeant Major and the Army Commander before the airplane accident occurred.

“Why was a whole CDF using one Helicopter with no 50ACB Helicopter Escort in an operation area?” Babu Owino quized.

There were also concerns about why a high-ranking military officer, such as the Chief of Defence Forces, was accompanied solely by junior officers.

Babu Owino also requested clarification on which military rank should be allowed to pilot a helicopter, particularly one carrying the Chief of Defence Forces.

“Who gives parade to CDF in an operation when he is about to inspect his troops and how many Helicopters should a CDF use while visiting an operation area?” Babu Owino questioned.

According to Babu Owino, why was a high-ranking military official in the capacity of General Francis Ogolla the one inspecting schools and not his juniors?

Following Ogolla’s death, there was a call for clarification on who would succeed him. “And why is General Ogolla dead just after the recent changes in KDF?” the MP queried.

On Thursday, April 18, President William Ruto announced the death of General Francis Ogolla who succumbed to a chopper accident in Elgeyo Marakwet.

The military chief died moments after holding a meeting with other relevant authorities to strategize how to deal with the bandits who have been causing anarchy in North Rift regions.

“This is a moment of great sadness for myself, as the Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, the Kenya Defence Forces fraternity, and the nation at large,” Ruto stated.
