10 Injured After Chopper With Passengers Bursts Into Flames in Lamu

10 people on Sunday sustained serious injuries after an aircraft they were traveling in crashed in the Kiunga area in Lamu County.

A video obtained by PoliticalPulseChat showed the light aircraft engulfed in flames, likely an effect of hitting the ground.

Reports indicated that the chopper was ferrying a Kenya Defence Forces pilot and nine other officers attached to KDF when the incident happened.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and were working to put out the fire.

The root cause of the aircraft’s accident is yet to be established, however, investigations have since commenced.

In an analogous scenario one month ago, two people sustained injuries after a KDF chopper crashed during takeoff at Wajir Airport.

The incident captured on a 31-second clip showed the chopper ascending before suddenly crashing right in front of a crowd that had gathered around it.

Following the crash, the victims were immediately rushed to Wajir County Referral Hospital where they were referred to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
