Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered an unresponsive infant, and regrettably, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, the first responders at the scene observed burns on the lifeless child, who was not breathing upon their arrival.
Thomas allegedly informed them that she had intended to put the infant down for a nap but mistakenly placed the child in the oven instead of the crib.
The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Thomas with the Class A felony of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree, Death of a Child.
Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker acknowledged the gruesome nature of the incident in a statement.
The charges suggest that Thomas’s actions, whether accidental or otherwise, led to the endangerment and subsequent death of her infant, warranting serious legal consequences.
