Wycliffe Oparanya’s Post Claiming He’d Rather Go Home to Be Farmer than Join Kenya Kwanza Govt Emerges
Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, a dedicated supporter of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) led by Raila Odinga, had previously made it clear that he would not align himself with Kenya Kwanza.
What exactly did Oparanya say about govt?
Despite his deep-rooted commitment to ODM, Oparanya explicitly stated that joining Kenya Kwanza was out of the question for him.
He expressed his refusal with a sense of resolute finality, even indicating that he would rather step away from the political arena altogether than compromise his principles by associating with Kenya Kwanza.

On February 11, 2022, at 10:01 p.m., Oparanya took to his X account to underscore his unwavering support for ODM.
In his post, he articulated that aligning with Kenya Kwanza was not an option he would consider, no matter the circumstances.
He even went so far as to declare that if Kenya Kwanza were the only viable political path available to him, he would choose to resign from his political career and return to farming rather than join forces with them.
“If Kenya Kwanza Alliance is the only option for me, I would rather resign from politics and go home to be a farmer than join them,” Oparanya said.
This statement came shortly after Oparanya, who also held the position of Deputy ODM party leader, was put forward for a role in President Ruto’s government. Specifically, he was nominated for the position of Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
