Wiper Clarifies Letter by Farah Maalim Calling for Dialogue with Gov’t
The Wiper Democratic Movement has denied the authenticity of a letter allegedly written by Dadaab MP Farah Maalim, calling for dialogue with government leaders.
The letter, which had Wiper’s letterhead and appeared as an official press release, was declared fake news by the party.
Wiper Disowns Farah Maalimโs Statement
The letter, dated Tuesday, March 11, and supposedly signed by Maalim, suggested that the recent Raila-Ruto agreement required urgent talks about Wiperโs political future.
However, Wiper has distanced itself from the statement, clarifying that Maalim is no longer part of the partyโs leadership.
Wiper referred to a previous announcement by its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, who had confirmed Maalimโs expulsion for breaching party rules and making offensive comments.
Kalonzo Reaffirms Farah Maalimโs Expulsion
โFor clarity, Farah Maalim, who was Wiperโs deputy leader, stands expelled for violating the Constitution, infringing on Kenyans’ rights, and making offensive remarks against Kenyan mothers,โ Musyoka declared on January 15, 2025.
Kalonzo Opposes Raila-Ruto Agreement
Kalonzo is among leaders criticizing the Raila-Ruto agreement, calling it a betrayal by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking at the People Dialogue Festival on Friday, March 7, Kalonzo insisted that Kenyans would continue rejecting ODM and UDA due to the policies of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He also stated that Raila must demand government compensation for Kenyans killed and injured during the 2023 and 2024 Finance Bill protests.
โIf their agreement at KICC does not include a plan to address the injustices suffered by Kenyans on June 25, 2023, it will be a betrayal. Whether there is a handshake or not, Ruto must go,โ Kalonzo declared.
Conclusion
Wiper remains firm in its stance, disowning Farah Maalim and rejecting the Raila-Ruto deal. The party continues to push for justice and accountability in Kenyaโs political landscape.
