Meta Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Zuckerberg has announced new changes to be effected on the social media chat app WhatsApp.

In an announcement via his WhatsApp channel on Thursday, Zuckerberg announced that users will be able to have two accounts on one phone in the new changes.

Users will also be able to switch accounts simultaneously.

As a demo, he shared a test of the changes, demonstrating how he could switch between his work and personal accounts.

Notably, both accounts were registered under two different numbers.

“Switch between two accounts on WhatsApp. Soon you will be able to have two WhatsApp accounts on one phone within the app,” the billionaire announced.

The new changes will be revolutionary for Kenyans who wish to separate their accounts concerning their work, business, and personal engagements.

Currently, WhatsApp users can only use one account on one phone.

However, users can always register their accounts on other devices.

“If you have a dual SIM phone, please note that you still must choose one number to verify with WhatsApp. There is no option to have a verified WhatsApp account with two different phone numbers.

“If you attempt to frequently switch your WhatsApp account between different devices, at a certain point, you may be blocked from re-verifying your account. Please don’t repeatedly switch between different devices and numbers,” WhatsApp guidelines read.
