Was Natembeya Fleeing for His Life as Angry Mob Turned Hostile at MP Malulu Injendi’s Home?
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya found himself in a tough situation on Sunday evening when he had to leave the home of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi earlier than planned.
Natembeya had gone to offer his condolences to Injendiโs family, but things took a different turn when a group of rowdy young people at the gathering began singing songs in support of President William Ruto. It became clear that the youth were directing their chants at him because of his outspoken opposition to Rutoโs administration.
As the situation got more tense, the Governorโs security team had to step in to ensure his safety. They quickly escorted him out as the crowd became more aggressive.
Images and videos shared on Gossipa2z.com captured the tense moment. Security officers stood guard as Natembeyaโs convoy made its way out of the compound while the youth continued shouting at him.
After the incident, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa spoke out, calling for calm. He emphasized that it was important for everyone to respect leaders, especially during such a solemn event.
“The late Malulu Injendi was a leader who loved peace. From today until the day he is laid to rest, we should ensure his send-off is conducted with dignity. We do not want any violence, and I urge all residents of Kakamega to practice tolerance,” Barasa stated.
Despite what happened, Natembeya later denied claims that he was forced out of the event. He took to social media, writing, “No one can chase me from my own ground. Stop spreading desperate propaganda.”

A close ally of Natembeya also clarified the situation, telling Gossipa2z.com that the Governor was not chased away. Instead, he had stepped aside to distribute handouts to the youth, as a sign of respect to the mourning family. It was at this moment that the commotion began.
This is not the first time Natembeya has faced such hostility. On January 3, while attending the burial of Mama Anne Nanyama, the mother of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, he found himself under attack again. During the event, he criticized the government for failing to address the issues facing the people of Western Kenya, including cases of abduction.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah did not take his comments lightly. He fired back, accusing Natembeya of failing to act on the issue when he had the power as a former Regional Police Commander.
“Gachagua was behind the abductions just so he could blame President Ruto. Governor Natembeya, you should be ashamed. You cannot complain about abductions when you were the one responsible for them under the previous government,” Ichungโwah claimed.
The late Malulu Injendi is set to be buried on Tuesday, March 4, at his home. Many leaders from different political sides are expected to attend. However, it remains uncertain whether Natembeya will be among them
