If approved, Senior Counsel Dorcas Agik Oduor will make history as the first female attorney general following President William Ruto’s nomination.
Currently serving as the Secretary of Public Prosecutions at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Oduor has earned a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management, a Bachelor of Laws, both from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
Her previous positions have afforded her significant exposure to influential figures within Kenya’s political and judicial spheres.
A recently surfaced video shows Oduor offering a heartfelt prayer during an event attended by Ruto at State House.
How did Oduor pray
Oduor thanked God, seeking His mercy and forgiveness for their transgressions.
The lawyer requested divine guidance for the head of state in his efforts to fulfill his responsibilities and lead effectively.

“God our Father, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude; we ask you to forgive our sins that we have committed in word, deed, and thoughts against you, fellow citizens, and against ourselves in public and in private. We want to thank you, Lord, for the gift of life, of preservation, and the blessing bestowed upon us.“
“We want to thank you, Lord, for the gift of life of preservation, a blessing bestowed upon us, upon His Excellency the President to serve in the high office to take care of us. We thank you, Lord, for all the offices represented here today for giving them the responsibility to guide,” she prayed
Dorcas on human mortality
The experienced lawyer invoked God to highlight the sacredness of life and the inevitability of human mortality, stressing that people merely inhabit the earth temporarily.
She underscored that humans are destined to serve God and will not find true peace until they embrace Him.
“Lord we ask you to remind us of our mortality, that we borrow this world from the generation to come, and that we have to give the earth back to it the way you gave it to us. Finally, we ask you to remind us of the words of Saint Augustine that human beings are made for you; they’ll never rest until they rest in God, and thus, we will have no peace unless we have you. We ask this in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen,” she concluded.
