USIU Student Dies in Kasarani Apartment Fall, Leaves Suicide Note for Parents
A student tragically passed away after leaping from the 14th floor of an apartment in the Kasarani area of Nairobi.
Authorities confirmed they are looking into the possibility of suicide in the case, which involved a male Tanzanian student from the United States International University (USIU).
The student, who was in his second year, was identified by police and classmates as the victim.
A suicide note addressed to his parents was found, although the contents have not been disclosed.
The student’s body was discovered early Wednesday morning by other tenants in the apartment building near the university, shortly after the incident occurred.
Adamson Bungei, the Nairobi police chief, stated that the authorities are investigating the case.
At the time of the incident, the student lived alone in his apartment room.
The police examined the scene and transferred the body to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigation.
In another case in Kirengero, Subukia, Nakuru County, a woman was found dead after reportedly hanging herself.

The tragic incident occurred in Jumatatu Village and involved 35-year-old Damaris Njeri.
She had been missing for several hours, which led her husband to search for her. He found her body hanging from the rafters of their home with no apparent physical injuries.
The exact cause of the incident remains unclear, and police have taken the body to the mortuary for examination.
Suicide rates have been steadily rising, prompting calls for urgent action to address this growing issue.
The government has assured that measures are in place to combat this crisis.
Police officials report a concerning increase in suicides, with up to two cases being recorded daily.
The World Health Organization attributes these deaths to various factors such as unemployment, loss, academic struggles, financial difficulties, and legal challenges.
Additional contributing factors include bullying, a history of suicide attempts, familial suicide history, substance abuse, alcoholism, depression, and bipolar disorder.
