Wednesday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) received four custom-built vehicles from the United States government to assist in its fight against drug trafficking.

In a statement obtained by GossipA2Z.com, the agency disclosed that the four vehicles were delivered by Joseph Kellams, a high-ranking US embassy official who represented the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Country Attaché.

During the transition ceremony, which was attended by the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Ireri Kamwende, the US official expressed confidence that the vehicles will supplement DCI’s mobility efforts in combating crime, which has previously been identified as a threat to national security.

Kamwende represented DCI director Amin Mohamed, who was away on official business.

Wednesday’s event was also attended by senior Homeland Security officials, highlighting the importance the US government placed on the meeting and collaboration between the two nations.

The US Embassy representative also emphasized that the contributions reflected the United States’ commitment to enhancing its security partnership with Kenya.

He also acknowledged that Kenya had taken drastic measures to resolve the country’s emerging security threats.

The Deputy Director of the DCI was optimistic about how law enforcement will be assisted in Nairobi’s intensified assault on drug traffickers.

Notably, the US donations occurred days after the DCI launched a crackdown against suspected narcotics dealers in the capital.

Over three individuals, including Nancy Indoveria Kigunzu, alias ‘Mathe wa Ngara,’ have been arrested recently on suspicion of drug trafficking.
