Uhuru’s Ally Discloses Being Depressed To Travel To Kenya
On Monday, Macharia Kamau, the former Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, expressed his dismay at the discouraging experience of arriving in Kenya via the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Kamau, a former ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, expressed shock at Kenya’s poverty level, noting that the nation’s impoverished condition becomes apparent to travelers returning from exotic trips abroad.
During Uhuru’s time in office, the Permanent Secretary, who had formerly held the position of Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, was given the responsibility of promoting Kenya internationally.
“Sometimes one arrives home from an international trip, say from Dubai, and one looks out the window of the plane at the depressing and chaotic urban sprawl,” he expressed his frustration with Nairobi’s landscape.
Macharia additionally condemned JKIA, alleging that one of its terminals seemed to resemble an improvised storage facility.
“One just wanna weep. It is like we are still in the stone age,” Macharia voiced his disappointment to the motherland.
When questioned about why he was objecting after staying mostly silent as PS, Macharia explained that he was expressing his criticisms of the country with genuine intentions.
“I have always been critical of what I thought could be improved. I will not stop,” he remarked.

“Whether I am in or out of official duties. Our condition is improved by constructive criticism.”
The seasoned diplomat who worked for more than ten years in the highest levels of the Executive branch has been expressing disapproval of the government since 2022.
That occurred after Uhuru transferred authority to William Ruto, despite initially endorsing Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio.
Macharia’s critique of the JKIA terminal and the nation’s condition differed from the Kenya Kwanza supporters who blamed Uhuru, alleging that he was responsible for the decline of the airport.
On November 14, Kipchumba Murkomen, the Transport Cabinet Secretary, claimed that the leakage in the roof of JKIA was a result of poor quality work supervised during Uhuru’s administration.
The ex-president denied the accusations and advised President Ruto and his supporters to concentrate on governing instead of bringing up his name in trivial discussions.
“I am no longer scared. We have been threatened and told a lot of things. Each time someone fails in their mandate, they blame the previous government. I am used to the blame and life continues,” Uhuru stated, while addressing his followers at a Thanksgiving ceremony in Kitui on Sunday, November 19.
