Uhuru-Museveni Talks Unveiled

On Saturday, August 5th, ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta made a respectful visit to President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.

The gathering quickly sparked rumors owing to the prevailing political circumstances in the nation and the ongoing political disagreement between the ex-Head of State and President William Ruto.

In July, the Azimio Coalition, led by Uhuru, cautioned East African neighboring nations against providing weaponry to President William Ruto while the anti-government protests were at their peak.

In an official announcement, Uhuru’s office disclosed that the ex-President journeyed to Uganda in his role as the mediator for the peace negotiations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The ex-Head of State provided an update to Museveni about the ongoing efforts for peace in the Central African nation.

“The two leaders deliberated on the ongoing peace processes geared towards the realization of lasting peace and stability in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo” read the statement in part.

Uhuru was accompanied by Ambassador Macharia Kamau, who held the position of Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs while he was in office, along with Brigadier (Rtd) Elijah Mwanyika and John Mulimba, Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The public was not informed about whether Uhuru departed the country right after the meeting or when he arrived in Uganda.

The details regarding whether the two leaders talked about personal issues concerning Uhuru’s family investments in Uganda were also not made public.

It’s important to mention that after relinquishing power in 2022, Uhuru was selected by Ruto to serve as a peace representative. Since then, he has been actively involved in facilitating negotiations between the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the M23 insurgent factions.

Educationally, the gathering occurred soon after the Kenyan government prohibited the import of milk powder produced by a company associated with the Kenyatta family.

Furthermore, a recently disclosed document outlining Uhuru’s scheduled travel arrangements has hinted at a potential journey to the United Kingdom accompanied by his family. This occurrence has led to conjecture regarding the future actions of the former Head of State.
