Uhuru Kenyatta Delivers Message During Radio Interview on 62nd Birthday

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta broke his months-long seclusion during a morning phone interview with Kameme FM on Thursday.

Muthoni wa Kihumba, host of the station’s morning program, called the former head of state to wish him a happy 62nd birthday.

During the interview, Uhuru expressed gratitude for the birthday greetings he received from Kenyans of all backgrounds.

Uhuru also took the opportunity to express gratitude to Kenyans and to wish them prosperity and peace. The former president, who was in a merry mood, remarked that his birthday coincided with Kenya’s 60th anniversary of independence.

In a lighthearted moment with the show’s presenter, Uhuru declined to elaborate on his age.

“Stop asking about my age, I am glad about the years that God has given me.

“Yes, life starts at 40 and I can guarantee you that mine passed a long time ago. I pray that God gives me a long life, good health, and peace in our country which is now 60 years as well,” he stated.

When asked which song he would like the host to play for him, Uhuru, an avid reggae aficionado, chose I Got You, Babe, by his favorite reggae band, UB40.

Uhuru refused to disclose where he had been or what he had been doing during the interview, despite being prodded to do so.

The former President has been silent for several months. On July 24, he met with media house editors and addressed several issues, including his relationship with President William Ruto and the raid on the home of his son.

Uhuru stated at the time that he would be lying low to spend time with his family.

In his capacity as a peace broker in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he has since made several low-profile visits, including one to Uganda.
