UDA Sends Shockwaves: Cease & Desist Letter to Sudi, Murkomen, and Kuria Over Gachagua Attacks

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala issued a directive on Wednesday, instructing several party members, including Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, to halt their criticisms against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua or face disciplinary measures.

Malala also reprimanded Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga for his strong political stance, which implied potential actions from the Mt. Kenya region against President William Ruto’s UDA faction due to Gachagua’s reported marginalization within the ruling party.

Fresh from his return from China, Malala cautioned Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport), Moses Kuria (Public Service), and Aisha Jumwa (Gender) to refrain from engaging in political activities, citing legal constraints.

Expressing his dismay over certain elected party members’ conduct, particularly their overt criticism of DP Gachagua, Malala underscored the unacceptability of such behavior within the UDA’s framework.

Malala firmly warned these leaders to cease their actions immediately, indicating that official repercussions would ensue if they persisted.

He also criticized the involvement of certain Cabinet Secretaries in political affairs, stressing that their roles necessitated political neutrality and suggesting that they resign if they wished to pursue politics.

In addition, Malala advised young UDA politicians who had begun early campaigning for the 2032 elections to prioritize their current duties of serving constituents, cautioning against the distraction and voter trust erosion associated with premature campaigns.

Highlighting the significance of party discipline and respecting hierarchy, which he deemed “sacred,” Malala emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of indiscipline within the UDA ranks.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to upholding its values and principles to fulfill its promises to the Kenyan electorate.
