Two Killed, 10 Seriously Injured As Eldoret Express Bus Hits Fuel Tanker In Kikuyu
Two people were reported dead on Saturday, April 6, after a 62-seater bus they were travelling in hit a fuel tanker along the Muguga area in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
According to the Kikuyu Police Commander Ronald Kirui, 10 others were seriously injured and rushed to nearby hospitals in critical condition.
The incident, which happened around 5:30 am, involved the bus ramming into the fuel tanker that had stalled on the road.
The bus headed to Nairobi from Nakuru at the time, lost control and hit the fuel tanker from behind.
The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the P.C.E.A Thogoto Hospital mortuary, and some of the casualties are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Police have attributed the accident to the slippery roads from the ongoing heavy rains. However, investigations have been launched to ascertain details leading to the incident.

The wreckage has been towed to the Kikuyu Police Station for inspection, to provide detailed reports that will aid the investigation.
The police commander has urged motorists to take precautions and drive carefully as the roads have become more dangerous.
According to a report by KeNHA, 1,189 people died from road accidents and 3,316 were seriously injured in road accidents between January and April 2024.
Transport and Roads Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has been in the spotlight in recent days following the accident occurrences involving both PSVs and school buses.
On April 2, A Subaru belonging to the Meru County Deputy Speaker Mwenda Ali burst into flames along the Embu-Meru Highway, leaving him critically injured. The daughter died on the spot.
Ali, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, alongside his driver and another passenger were airlifted to Nairobi for treatment.
