TSC Announces Dates for KCSE and KPSEA, Orders Vetting of Exam Supervisors
Nancy Macharia, CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), has instructed all Sub-county Directors of Education to review and appoint center managers, supervisors, and invigilators in preparation for the upcoming national examinations in October.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is scheduled to start on October 22 and end on November 22. Meanwhile, the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will run from October 28 to November 20.
The Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) exams are set to take place between October 28 and October 31, 2024.
In a circular issued on August 30, Macharia mandated the Sub-county education directors to adhere to this directive and upload the required information about selected candidates to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) portal by October 11.
“For the smooth conduct of these examinations and assessments, KNEC needs the details of all center managers, supervisors, and invigilators involved,” Macharia stated.
She requested the identification, vetting, and nomination of center managers, supervisors, and invigilators, directing their deployment into the CP2 system by October 11, 2024, via the URL: http://cp2.knec.ac.ke.
Macharia also emphasized that the selection of candidates should follow specific guidelines and that appointed teachers must be qualified, employed, and registered with the TSC.
Furthermore, she instructed that supervisors and invigilators be allocated to examination centers where they do not have personal interests.

“Center managers must verify the details and workstation of supervisors and invigilators at their centers. They are responsible for daily attendance tracking. Teachers in schools with Stage-Based Pathway learners will invigilate their students, with one invigilator required for every 10 learners. Invigilators must sign a declaration form, and no supervisor or center manager will be assigned to KILEA centers,” Macharia noted.
“A supervisor should be designated for every 200 candidates, while no supervisor is needed for hosted centers. For every 20 candidates, only one invigilator should be assigned. Deploy invigilators to hosted centers based on the number of candidates,” she instructed.
According to Macharia, hosting centers must have their center managers to handle the collection and return of examination materials.
She also pointed out that supervisors and invigilators should not be assigned to centers where they have worked for the past two consecutive years, as TSC’s CP2 system is designed to prevent such repeat assignments.
“Only supervisors and invigilators registered in the CP2 system will be deployed for the 2024 national examinations and assessments and will have their claims processed. For the KCSE examination, supervisors must be secondary school teachers,” she explained.
“KCSE supervisors will be rotated weekly. The outgoing supervisor should prepare brief handover notes for the incoming one. Sub-counties facing recruitment challenges should email si@knec.ac.ke with details of the issue for assistance,” she added.
