Makau Mutua, the ex-representative of Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential campaign team, has challenged dissenting members within the coalition opposing the adoption of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report to exit the political alliance.

The professor urged those dissenting from the National Dialogue Committee’s final report in a statement to contemplate departing, emphasizing that the report was an outcome of the party’s democratic procedures.

Makau highlighted that the coalition isn’t an obligatory union.

“Azimio isn’t a forced marriage. Please leave if you can’t support the NADCO report which is the product of the party’s agreed democratic processes.”

This follows the public disagreement of two Azimio leaders with the report, contradicting the coalition’s position.

On Thursday, December 7, Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc Kenya Party, encouraged Kenyans to refuse the NADCO report due to its failure to tackle the matter of rising living expenses.

The co-leader of Azimio pointed out that the primary reason behind the protests was largely ignored, alleging that the report was deceitful and designed solely to favor those in power.

Karua had also faulted the committee, terming them as incompetent.

“The NADCO report has nothing to alleviate the suffering of citizens but offers goodies to the leaders.”

“The report’s findings confirm that the committee was formed by the unwilling, composed of the incompetent to do the unnecessary,” Karua stated.

Azimio’s head Eugene Wamalwa, who served on the dialogue committee, also expressed dissent towards the conclusive report, emphasizing its inadequacy in addressing what he considered the primary concern raised by Kenyans.

The leader of the Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) had additionally pledged to refuse to sign the report.

“I didn’t and will not append my signature to the NADCO report and have not and will not accept any sitting allowance for the same.”

“I believe we did not do justice to the single most important issue to Kenyans; the cost of living,” Wamalwa stated.
