Tragic Twist: Pregnant Student Slain After Parents’ Ksh27K Payment to Kidnappers
Authorities at Thika West Police Station are currently investigating the tragic demise of Faith Musembi, a 19-year-old university student, whose lifeless body was discovered in Pilot Estate, Thika, Kiambu County.
Faith’s father, Boniface Musembi, stumbled upon the distressing scene after receiving ransom demands via his daughter’s phone and subsequently rushed to her residence.
Despite complying with the demands by transferring Ksh27,000, the assailant persisted, demanding an additional Ksh33,000 from the family.
Upon reporting the incident to Thika West Police Station, the family was met with skepticism regarding the severity of the situation.
Boniface Musembi expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the authorities, citing their belief that it could be a ploy orchestrated by Faith’s acquaintances.
Dissatisfied with the police response, the family opted to escalate the matter by approaching the university authorities.
Upon visiting Faith’s residence in Pilot Estate, Boniface was confronted with the harrowing sight of his daughter’s lifeless body.
Following the discovery, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene promptly, initiating investigations into the circumstances surrounding Faith’s untimely demise.

Revealing exchanges between Faith’s father and the perpetrator shed light on the ransom negotiations and the assailant’s callous demeanor.
Father: Your days are numbered. What you did to her is unforgivable.
Attacker: No problem, when my time comes, I will follow suit. You failed to follow simple instructions and chose to do things your way.
Father: All the money sent was not enough?
Attacker: How much is Ksh27,000 and I needed Ksh60,000? The mother was so clever to fool me that she would send it by 8:00 am then when that time came she began to ignore (my texts). The results are right with you.
A subsequent post-mortem examination at General Kago Funeral Home attributed Faith’s death to severe bleeding.
Faith’s cousin, Dominic Makau, emphasized the urgency of securing justice, especially considering indications from the postmortem suggesting Faith may have been pregnant at the time of her demise.
