Tragic discovery: Nicola Bulley’s body identified by dental records, inquest reveals

An inquest heard that NICOLA Bulley was identified by her dental records after her mother’s body was recovered from a river.

The 45-year-old mother of two was found on the banks of the River Wyre on Sunday, 23 days after she disappeared.

Today, at noon, the Preston Coroner’s Court opened its investigation.

During the brief hearing, which was not attended by Nicola’s family, no cause of death was given.

The court was informed that the mother of two must be identified using her dental records.

Tragic discovery: Nicola Bulley’s body identified by dental records, inquest reveals. Consultant maxillofacial surgeon Ian Edwards discovered that Nicola’s dental records and the restoration work performed were identical.

Dr. James Adeley, the chief medical examiner, stated, “I am satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that identification has been made.”

Evidence gathered by the police and the autopsy “a further evaluation, the court was informed.

Before a full hearing in June 2023, the inquest was adjourned to “gather the facts of the case.”

Coroner: Additional time is required for the experts to “finalize the findings from investigations that remain to be conducted.”

Dr. Adeley added, “This is the beginning of the Nicola Jane Bulley death investigation.”

“The family has been notified of the date, time, and location of the opening, but has decided not to attend for reasons I can comprehend.

“My condolences are with them and will remain so.”

Monday, Lancashire Police confirmed that Nicola’s remains had been identified.

On January 27 at approximately 9:15 a.m., she was discovered less than a mile from where she was last seen in St. Michael’s on Wyre, Lancashire.

In a heartbreaking statement, Nicola’s family confirmed their “worst fears.”

They further stated: “We will never be able to comprehend what Nikki endured in her final moments, and this will remain with us forever.

“Nikki will never be forgotten; how could we? She was the center of our universe and the person who made our lives so special, and nothing will ever diminish that.

Our girls will receive the necessary support from those who love them most.

The assertion continued: “Our hearts truly ache for those whose loved ones have gone missing. Keep this optimism alive.

“Nikki, you are no longer a missing person because you have been located; we can now let you rest.

“We have always loved you and always will; we’ll handle the rest.”

The disappearance of Nicola sparked a mystery when her cellphone was discovered on a bench while still connected to a work conference call.

Willow, Nicola’s springer spaniel, was also located, but there was no sign of the mother of two.

Her death is currently considered unexplained.
