Tragic Crash on Nakuru-Eldoret Highway: 3 Dead, 13 Injured

A somber atmosphere surrounded Nakuru County as several fatalities are feared following a collision between a Passenger Service Vehicle (PSV) and a trailer at Sobea on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

A video from Gossipa2z.com showed the trailer had swerved off the road, obstructing both lanes of traffic.

The matatu collided with the trailer, severely damaging the front of the vehicle. In the aftermath of the accident, bystanders hurried to help the survivors.

At the time of reporting, rescue efforts were still in progress.

Kenyans on social media urged drivers to maintain slower speeds during the current heavy rain season to prevent accidents.

Others voiced concerns about the increasing number of accidents on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

“The Nakuru-Eldoret Highway is taking lives every day. Rest in peace to the deceased,” some comments read.

“Accidents will not stop until lorries are taken off the roads.”

“Kenya is becoming a hotspot for accidents and fatalities. Have we failed as a nation, or is this the new norm?”

Last month, eight individuals died when six trucks collided, causing traffic on the busy highway.

Drivers on the route complained about the narrowness of the road, which they blamed for the frequent accidents on the highway.

Witnesses at the scene attributed the crashes to foggy weather, which impaired drivers’ visibility, causing them to lose control and resulting in trucks swerving off the road and overturning, blocking large portions of the road.
