Tragic Crash Claims Kenya Air Force Officer in Bondo

The Kenya Air Force experienced a significant loss when one of its officers, Paytone Mitch Opiyo, died in a tragic road accident on Sunday night.

The accident occurred around the Nyamonye area along the Bondo-Usenge road and also claimed the life of a motorcyclist, Richard Omondi.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the unfortunate incident took place when Opiyo was riding a motorcycle while carrying his brother, Felix Opiyo.

The two were heading towards Bondo from Usenge when they collided head-on with an oncoming motorcycle.

The collision was severe and resulted in the immediate deaths of Paytone Mitch Opiyo and Richard Omondi, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

The police commander stated that the Air Force officer’s brother, Felix Opiyo, and Walter Aloo, who was a passenger on the other motorcycle, sustained multiple leg fractures due to the collision. Both were seriously injured and required immediate medical attention.

Officers from the Bondo traffic base promptly visited the scene of the accident and managed the situation.

They transported the bodies of Paytone Mitch Opiyo and Richard Omondi to the Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary, where they await autopsy examinations to determine the exact causes of death.

Meanwhile, the two severely injured passengers, Felix Opiyo and Walter Aloo, were rushed to the Siaya County referral hospital to receive emergency medical care due to the gravity of their injuries.

The motorcycles involved in the accident were extensively damaged, and they were taken to Nyamonye police post to await a thorough inspection.

This tragic incident has cast a shadow over the Kenya Air Force, as they cope with the loss of one of their officers. The accident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers present on the roads and the need for safe driving practices to prevent such devastating outcomes.

The local authorities will continue their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar accidents in the future.
