Tragic Airport Fire Claims 3 Tourists in Nairobi
On Sunday, August 27, a tragic incident claimed the lives of three Indian citizens traveling to Nairobi.
According to reports, the unfortunate incident took place at Hotel Galaxy near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai.
Tragically, three people perished in the fire. Following a flight delay of more than 14 hours, they booked into the hotel.
According to the Indian Express, the deceased and injured were passengers in transit who were transferred to the three-star hotel by an airline.
The victims’ flight was rescheduled to depart for Nairobi at 7 p.m., but they were unable to board the aircraft due to the incident.
According to the police, the fire started in the air ducts, presumably due to a short circuit.
Unfortunately, the hotel only had conventional fire extinguisher cylinders and no integrated firefighting system.

When firefighters arrived, the tragic incident had already claimed the lives of three persons and severely injured two others.
It took firefighters over an hour to extinguish the blaze, which left the hotel in devastation.
According to witnesses, the first sign was the emergence of smoke from the hotel, which caused people to disperse in search of safety.
“We were on our way to lunch when a conflagration broke out. We hurried back after receiving a message from the hotel administration. “No one in our family was injured, but we lost our luggage,” one of the passengers stated.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) clarified that the presence of flammable materials, including garments and wooden furniture, contributed to the fire’s intensification.
“The victims perished due to severe burns. The entire corridor was filled with smoke, which caused them to suffocate, according to the firefighters.
