In an interview with NTV, the self-proclaimed “man of God” disclosed that he had ceased his ministry in 2019 after receiving instruction from God to do so.
“I was a pastor from 2003-2019 in August. That is when I closed my ministry. I have heard people saying the government made me lose my business and my TV Station but that is not true.”
Mackenzie claimed that he had heard the voice of God and made the decision to respect it.
“The truth is that I heard God’s voice saying my time to preach God’s message on prophecy about the end. It was easy for me to accept but I respected and agreed to become a regular man. In 2022 is when I decided to join farming.”

On Monday, the remains of an additional 26 people were discovered in shallow graves throughout the area. According to the police, this brought the total number of deaths that can be linked to the cult to 73. The death toll has risen to 88 on Tuesday.
Since Friday, April 21, a total of 65 bodies have been exhumed, and an additional eight people passed away while in medical care. On Monday, police also rescued nine people, five of whom were in critical condition at the time of their rescue.
According to the police, the exhumation procedure that was supposed to take place on the 800-acre property that belonged to the cult leader Paul Mackenzie was halted on Monday due to bad weather and resumed on Tuesday.
Mackenzie, who is currently in the custody of the police, is the subject of an investigation into whether or not he was responsible for encouraging his followers to starve to death to meet their maker.
