The Atlantic Leaks Full US Attack Plans on Yemen Shared in Signal Chat- “Bombs Will Definitely Drop”
The Atlantic magazine has published the full exchange of leaked messages between top US officials discussing a military attack on Yemen. The leak has sparked major controversy, with the White House aggressively defending itself.
How Did the Leak Happen?
Earlier this week, a journalist from The Atlantic was accidentally added to a private Signal chat between President Donald Trump’s top officials. The chat contained details of the attack, including:
- Times of airstrikes
- Types of planes used
- Real-time intelligence updates
Despite White House claims that the messages contained no classified information, The Atlantic decided to publish the full chat logs to prove its point.
What Did the Leaked Messages Say?

Screenshots show that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz were actively discussing the attack plan on March 15. Some key messages included:
- “1215 ET: F-18s LAUNCH (1st strike package).”
- “1415: Strike Drones on Target (THIS IS WHEN THE FIRST BOMBS WILL DEFINITELY DROP).”
- “Target Terrorist is @ his Known Location so SHOULD BE ON TIME.”
The chat also included emojis, informal remarks, and even disparaging comments about US allies in Europe.

White House Reaction: “No Secrets Were Shared”
President Donald Trump and his team dismissed the leak, calling The Atlantic “scumbags” and labeling the story a hoax. Trump stated:
“There weren’t details, and nothing was compromised. The attack was very successful.”
Vice President JD Vance and Mike Waltz also defended the messages, saying they did not reveal “war plans” or “locations.”
Political Fallout: Democrats and Allies React
The leak has caused outrage in Congress, with Democrats accusing the Trump administration of carelessness and putting military operations at risk. The House of Representatives even held a special hearing on the matter.
Additionally, US allies in Europe may be angered by leaked comments mocking their military strength.
What’s Next?
The Trump administration is facing growing pressure over the leak, while tensions in the Red Sea continue. The US has intensified attacks on the Huthi rebels, who control large parts of Yemen and are backed by Iran.
