Nyaribari Masaba MP Daniel Manduku expressed his readiness to resign due to the nation’s current situation.

During an interview with Spice FM, he mentioned that public trust in the government had eroded, prompting the need for MPs to step down.

Manduku emphasized his ongoing efforts to push for the dissolution of Parliament and the organization of fresh elections to restore the government’s legitimacy.

He noted that even if he resigned, the real solution to Kenya’s issues would be holding new elections to let citizens choose representatives who prioritize their interests.

Manduku remarked that despite his resignation, as long as there are fifty MPs, Parliament could still conduct business.

He elaborated that recent events would lead to a more informed voting pattern among Kenyans if elections were held.

The legislator criticized the prevalent “six-piece” voting pattern, where citizens vote along party lines instead of evaluating individual candidates.

He acknowledged that his call to dissolve Parliament was not well-received by his colleagues, who urged him to resign without demanding Parliament’s dissolution.

Manduku argued that the recent invasion of Parliament highlighted the institution’s failure to maintain order, respect, and public trust.

He suggested that Kenya could adopt a staggered election system, with leaders elected at different intervals.

This system, according to Manduku, would allow Kenyans to effectively evaluate leaders and vote more objectively.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that these elections are affordable.
