Surprising Connection Revealed: Danstan Omari Discloses Waititu as Former Classmate
Attorney Danstan Omari disclosed that former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was his classmate in high school.
In an interview with Stephanie Wangari of KTN News on June 12, Omari recalled attending Ruiru High School alongside the former governor of Kiambu, adding that his high school years were fraught with difficulty.
The renowned attorney stated that he was not a particularly bright student in high school and had to repeat several courses to earn the grades required for university admission.
He disclosed that he left Waititu after form four and transferred to another school to repeat form three and form four.
“Because I was more involved in extracurricular activities than in my coursework, I did not perform well in high school. I was required to repeat form three at a different high school to gain momentum.
“One of my classmates was the former governor of Kiambu, Ferdinand Waititu. We were in the same class with him,” Omari said.
Later, he enrolled at Kenyatta University to pursue a Bachelor of Education and became a secondary school instructor specializing in English and Kiswahili.
“When I went on to study education, I realized that exceptionally intelligent students do not succeed in life. Middle school students are marathon runners who can overcome the odds and reach the finish line, he observed.

However, after 15 years as a teacher, Omari decided to leave the profession and pursue a law degree while working as a child officer.
“I earned my law degree in 2008 from the University of Nairobi.” In 2009, I simultaneously enrolled in a master’s degree program and a postgraduate diploma in the law program. On November 4, 2011, I was admitted as an attorney following my graduation, he explained.
The city attorney added that he endured difficulties balancing work, family, and education because he was determined to change careers.
When President William Ruto asked him to represent him in a case before the children’s court, he received his big break. He added that he had to alter his lifestyle to be available for high-profile clients when they required his services.
“When President William Ruto became my client in the children’s court, I reached the pinnacle of my career in that court. I was his attorney in the Abby case.”I later represented former Chief Justice David Maraga in the court for children. After that, I represented a large number of high-level executives and ministers,’ he continued.
He noted that his wife, who had stood by his side for the past 34 years, had embraced the changes. His advice to married couples was that they must agree to be ‘fools’ and accept each other’s professions.
Omari’s decision to represent Pastor Ezekiel Oduor, a preacher accused of radicalizing his followers, has made headlines.
