Stop Attacks on Rigathi Gachagua! Mutahi Kahiga Tells President Ruto
Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga criticized the government for allegedly undermining Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s office while expressing his support for the DP.
During a media interview on Sunday, June 16, Kahiga complained that certain government officials were actively working against the DP’s efforts to serve the public.
He highlighted that despite the DP having specific responsibilities, these individuals were determined to hinder his success, aiming to damage his reputation among Kenyans.
Kahiga called on President William Ruto to step in and ensure the DP is respected and allowed to fulfill his duties.
He mentioned that some people close to the President, even those without official positions, were causing confusion in Mt Kenya and trying to destabilize Gachagua, criticizing the President for not taking control.
Kahiga stressed that it was Ruto’s duty to uphold the dignity of his deputy since they were elected together.

He also pointed out that cutting Gachagua’s budget was another obstacle to his effectiveness.
Kahiga acknowledged the growing rift between the President and the DP, noting their deteriorating relationship.
He emphasized that regardless of their issues, the two leaders were responsible for serving Kenyans and advised them to set aside their differences, noting that Ruto still had five years in office.
Kahiga urged other leaders, including Gachagua, to support the President to safeguard Ruto’s legacy.
He reminded everyone that the public elected them to deliver results, not to be in perfect harmony.
Recently, Kahiga has defended the Deputy President, who has faced criticism for his one-man, one vote, one shilling proposal.
