Sossion’s Mother Ruth Chepng’eno Passes Away at Bomet Hospital
Ruth Chepng’eno, the mother of former Nominated Member of Parliament Wilson Sossion, has passed away.
In a statement, the former Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) disclosed that his mother collapsed at home and was pronounced deceased upon arrival at Tenwek Mission Hospital in Bomet County.
“It is with deep shock and sorrow that we announce the passing on to the glory of our beloved mother Ruth Chepng’eno Sossion,” the politician said in his statement.
At the time this article was published, it was unclear whether Chepng’eno was ill before her untimely demise.
Following her demise, political leaders from across the political spectrum, including those from Sossion’s hometown of Bomet, sent condolence messages.
“Heartfelt condolence to you and your family,” former Bomet East MP Bernard Bett said in a statement.

The politician also received condolences from the education sector, where he received his early training.
1983 marked the beginning of Sossion’s tenure as a tutor at Tenwek High School.
Later, in 2013, he was elected KNUT Secretary General, the highest position within the education trade unions.
The former nominee worked closely with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), which nominated him to the House of Representatives.
In the run-up to the election of 2022, he defected and pledged allegiance to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He unsuccessfully pursued the party’s nomination to run for the Senate seat in Bomet County.
The politician was also appointed to serve as Tourism Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) before the court order declaring the position unconstitutional was issued.
