Siaya Governor James Orengo Mourns Ex-County Clerk Felix Olwero Shot Dead by Police
Siaya Governor James Orengo is mourning the death of former Siaya County Assembly Clerk, Felix Isaac Olwero, who was fatally shot by police in what is believed to be a case of mistaken identity.
Olwero was killed outside his Whitehouse Resort in Seme during the early hours of Monday, August 18. Reports indicate that he had gone undercover to trap suspected robbers when police officers allegedly mistook him for one of the criminals and opened fire.
Police from Kombewa Police Station had rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call from the resort manager, Sandra Okech.
Governor Orengo described the incident as a senseless tragedy and called for urgent investigations to ensure justice.
โDevastated by the tragic loss of Felix Olwero, former Siaya County Assembly Clerk and husband to our CECM for Sports, Madam Angeline Oduor, who was brutally shot dead this morning under unclear circumstances.

We condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms and demand thorough investigations. No life should ever be lost in such a senseless manner,โ Orengo said.
This heartbreaking incident comes just months after Orengo also mourned the loss of senior county driver George Were, who died in a road accident while on duty.
On Tuesday, May 6, Orengo expressed deep sorrow, revealing that Were was heading to Naivasha when the accident happened at Delamere Center.
The crash also left other Siaya County staff injured, including Chief Officer for Education Richard Ogeda and Easter Okello of the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB).
Orengo sent his condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured a quick recovery.
โWe extend our heartfelt condolences to Georgeโs family and pray they find strength during this painful time. We also wish a swift recovery to Chief Officer Richard Ogeda, Easter Okello of LREB, and all staff members injured in the accident,โ he added.
