Siaya Deputy Governor Denied Office Access Despite Senate Acquittal
William Oduol, the vice-governor of Siaya, lamented that the members of the Siaya County Assembly (MCAs) denied him access to his office despite his exoneration by the Senate.
Tuesday, June 27, Oduol stated in an interview on Ramogi TV that the MCAs asked Governor James Orengo to find him an office outside of the county.
He added that the MCAs refused to allow him to return to work and filed new charges against him with the Siaya High Court.
In the new charges, the MCAs alleged that he was unfit for office and requested that the court reconsider the case, he added.
“According to the MCAs, I am unfit for office, and they have denied me access to my office.
“They want me removed from my office in Siaya until their appeal is heard, and they want Governor James Orengo to provide me with a separate office outside of the county,” he lamented.

Oduol pleaded with the MCAs to forgive him and end their grudge against him.
In addition, he stated that he intended to deliver for the people who voted for him rather than focusing on disputes with other political leaders and that the MCAs lacked the authority to remove him from office.
“Please respect the people who voted for you and refrain from bringing up nonexistent issues. I would like to inform them that they do not have the authority to choose the office where I will be located and that this issue will cause unnecessary chaos in the county.
“The populace is sick of hearing these accusations against me. I am requesting that they forget the past. “The charges they are bringing before the Supreme Court were among those settled by the Senate,” he added.
Siaya MCAs requested that Oduol be investigated for gross violations of the constitution by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Monday, June 26, 27 senators voted against a report from a committee that recommended the removal of the lieutenant governor from office. 16 members approved the impeachment report against Oduol.
On Tuesday, June 27, Senator Godfrey Osotsi of Vihiga disclosed that his Kenya Kwanza counterparts were coerced into preventing the impeachment of Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol.
After voting in favor of the motion, according to Osotsi, senators suddenly changed their minds. Therefore, he claimed that they were coerced into voting against the report that accused Oduol of gross misconduct.
