SHOCKER: Nigeria- Kwara State Chairman of Miyetti Allah Gunned Down in Cold Blood at His Own Doorstep
The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kwara State, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina, was shot and killed by unknown attackers on Saturday night.
A spokesperson for MACBAN in the state confirmed the tragic incident, explaining that the chairman was returning home around 10 p.m. when the assailants ambushed him in front of his house and shot him dead.
“He was coming back home late at night. As he was about to enter his house, the attackers struck and opened fire on him. That is all we can say for now,” the spokesperson told journalists.
The Kwara State Police Command also confirmed the killing in a statement released on Sunday afternoon by its spokesperson, SP Ejire Adetoun.
According to the police, five used bullet casings of 7.62mm caliber were recovered from the crime scene. They assured the public that those responsible for the murder would be arrested and prosecuted.
The official statement from the police reads: “The Kwara State Police Command confirms the killing of Alhaji Idris Abubakar, the Chairman of MACBAN in Kwara State. He was shot and killed on March 8, 2025, at the entrance of his home in Oke Ose, Oke-Oyi.
“Police officers responded quickly to the incident and found five used bullet casings. His body has been taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) mortuary.

“The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has started a full investigation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, psc(+), has promised that those behind the attack will be caught and prosecuted. He also urged the public to remain calm and provide any useful information to assist the investigation.”
Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina was buried on Sunday morning in the Zango area of Ilorin.
The Kwara State chapter of MACBAN expressed deep sorrow over the killing of their leader.
In a statement signed by the MACBAN state secretary, AbdulAzeez Muhammed, and the Fulani leader in Kwara State, Alhaji Ojonla Mahmud, the group called on security agencies to track down the killers as soon as possible and ensure they are brought to justice.
The statement also urged the state government to support the late chairman’s family by providing quality education and better welfare for his children.
Sources told Vanguard Correspondent that the murder may be linked to MACBAN’s continuous support for security agencies and local hunters in the fight against crime. The group had been actively helping the police in tracking down kidnappers and stopping terrorist activities in the state.
