Shock in Court as Witness Collapses Before Testimony in Maina Njenga’s Case
On Monday, moments before being summoned to testify in the case involving former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, a witness in that case collapsed in court.
The witness, who had been given a Bible in anticipation of their testimony and was about to take the oath at the Nakuru Law Courts, went unconscious abruptly.
As a result of the unforeseen occurrence, the court proceedings were expeditiously adjourned to allow for the provision of first aid to the witness.
Despite the occurrence, the case persisted for a period of five months.
Despite the witness being excused from providing testimony, the prosecution consented to proceed with the case.
Whether the witness would provide her testimony at a later time or date was not specified at the time.
The witness was poised to provide an answer regarding Maina Njenga’s July detention, during which he was suspected of possessing crude weapons.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) held the belief at the time that Maina Njenga had intentions of utilizing firearms in the course of opposition demonstrations.
Attorney Ndegwa Njiru represented Maina Njenga in the Nakuru Law Courts. Njiru has maintained that his client is not guilty of the allegations that have been brought against him.
Throughout a radio interview on November 13, Maina Njenga conveyed a resolute conviction that the case would ultimately fail.
He remarked that the government was enraged by nationwide business operations being paralyzed by protests at the time of his detention.
Maina Njenga stated that it was rational for the ODPP to rescind the case, given his decision to proclaim peace and support President Wiliam Ruto.
