Shape up or face impeachment, Kiambu MCAs tell Wamatangi
Displeased by Kiambu County Governor Kimani Wamatangi’s governance, a section of Kiambu MCAs have asked their governor to change or they will table an impeachment motion against him.
The MCAs on Wednesday said they have enough ground to table a notice of impeachment against Wamatangi.
In a media briefing, the MCAs led by Kikuyu Ward MCA Kamau Boro accused the UDA Governor of allegedly failing to run the Executive.
“The Governor runs the affairs of the County as a lone ranger with little respect as to the importance of County Assembly as far as oversight, transparency, and accountability,” he claimed while reading a statement.
Development projects, especially roads were mentioned by the MCAs, stating that last financial year despite the passing of their budget, there was very little improvement in accessing roads, noting that they are still in a sorry state.

As a result, the MCAs issued a 21-day ultimatum to Wamatangi to respond to the allegations leveled at him, failure to which they will not bow down to remove him.
In August, the same MCAs had accused the county boss of dictatorship, failed leadership, and inability to manage the county development plan.
At the center of the wrangles between the county assembly and executive leadership were allegations that Wamatangi had failed to fully constitute his government for effective service delivery, one year after he assumed office.
The ward representatives alleged that since he assumed office, the governor cannot illustrate the projects he has undertaken save the distribution of weeks-old chicks and fertilizer to farmers.
But in a quick response, Governor Wamatangi upheld that he won’t be cowed by the demands of corrupt people claiming that the fights at the assembly are a plot by his political nemesis who are opposed to his leadership style and political stature.
