Senior Govt Official Resigns, Cites Frustration
Dr. Peter Mbae, Head of Government Delivery Services (GDS), has stepped down, citing unresolved concerns raised with the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei.
In a resignation letter dated January 9, Mbae highlighted unfavorable working conditions as the reason for his departure, just under a year after assuming the role.
“Despite my passion, focus, and consistency, unresolved issues I’ve brought to your attention have made it impossible to perform my duties effectively. My position is no longer tenable,” Mbae wrote. He further stated his intent to pursue other interests while remaining accountable to the public.
Speaking exclusively to Gossipa2z.com, Mbae confirmed his exit, stating, “I will return to my professional roots. I was established in my field before joining the government.”
Dr. Mbae, a conflict resolution expert, underscored his dedication during his time in public service. Before leading GDS, he served as Head of Ministerial Programmes in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management. He also held positions as Secretary of Investment Promotion in the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry (MITI) and as Head of the Ministerial Delivery Unit.

“In every role, I worked with an unwavering commitment to drive sustainable transformation aligned with the Kenya Kwanza Government manifesto,” Mbae said.
The GDS, a unit within the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management, is tasked with overseeing national government flagship projects. Its responsibilities include monitoring progress, resolving bottlenecks, and providing public updates on achievements through digital and print media.
Mbae’s resignation comes amid growing speculation about unrest within the government. Recently, Public Service CS Justin Muturi expressed frustration over the rising abductions in Kenya, revealing his son was abducted but later released.
This development adds to concerns about challenges within the government, raising questions about leadership cohesion and operational effectiveness.
