Senior Cop Tragically Drowns in Machakos River
On Wednesday, tragedy struck the KBC Police Station in Matungulu sub-county, Machakos county, as one of its senior officers, Chief Inspector Cyprian Walunya Kasili, lost his life in a devastating accident in River Kware.
The unfortunate incident unfolded when the inspector’s vehicle became submerged in the river, resulting in his drowning.
The grim discovery was made when members of the public reported seeing a submerged vehicle in the river.
Responding promptly to the situation, police rushed to the scene to investigate the reported sighting. Upon arrival, officers managed to retrieve Kasili’s body from the water.
This heart-wrenching incident occurred around 4:40 pm, shaking the local community and police station with the sudden loss.
The police report from KBC Police Station stated that at the time of the accident, Chief Inspector Kasili was driving home to Lowland Estate in the Kware area.

His vehicle was still submerged in the river’s waters when the report was initially filed, indicating the challenges the authorities faced in retrieving both the officer’s body and the vehicle itself.
Chief Inspector Kasili’s body has since been taken to Patjud Funeral Home, where it is being preserved until an autopsy can be conducted to establish the precise cause of his death.
This unexpected and tragic loss of a seasoned police officer is a significant blow to the local law enforcement community, who now face the task of investigating the incident while also grieving the loss of one of their own.
