Senator Sifuna Takes Aim: Criticizes State House Weekly Prayers

Senator Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi criticized the government on Wednesday for the burdensome cost of living that Kenyans bear.

Sifuna inquired, during a gathering with religious leaders in Westlands, as to why State House attendees of the weekly prayer sessions do not provide President William Ruto with counsel.

“You go to State House every week why can’t you tell him he is hurting God’s children,” he posed.

Kerosene costs Ksh203.06, paraffin costs Ksh217, and diesel costs Ksh203.47; he requested that the ‘prayer warriors’ negotiate with Ruto to reduce the price of fuel.

During the State Visit of Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, PCS Sifuna questioned why Ruto would deceive in front of the people who elected him.

Those requesting the opposition were also urged to protest the current state of affairs, which includes tax increases, to elect better leaders in the upcoming elections.

“You came home with a thief and let him in, leaving the dog outside. Later you are screaming that there is a thief, do you think the dog will take action when you are the one who let the thief in,” the Senator questioned.

“Those who voted in this government should stop disturbing others by asking them to make noise. How will that help us now?” he questioned.

Last week, Sifuna also criticized Ruto’s speech in Parliament, describing it as false and inaccurate.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his position that he avoided the State of the Nation Address on purpose, stating that he anticipated a circumstance in which he would demonstrate during the address by the Head of State. He stated that this would result in his expulsion from Parliament for six months.

Sifuna expressed his conviction that the President would distort facts, citing his history of such behavior since assuming office.

This follows Raila’s daughter Winnie Odinga’s reprimand of Kenyans pleading for her father’s intervention regarding the escalating cost of living.

Winnie questioned an online user in a statement as to why he was pursuing Raila when voters rejected his candidature because they were “sending him to Bondo.”

The majority of Kenyans have accused the Kenya Kwanza government of betraying those who voted President William Ruto into office, as the cost of living has become intolerable.

Nevertheless, Ruto has insisted that his primary objective is to reduce the cost of living, as he pledged throughout the campaign phase.
