Senator Cherargei Urges Visa Suspension for Malema’s Ruto Criticism
Senator Samson Cherargei of Nandi has requested that the Kenyan government revoke the visa of South African politician Julius Malema in retaliation for Malema’s criticism of President William Ruto.
President William Ruto was criticized by the EFF leader, who was in Kenya for a series of events last week, for changing his tenor, failing to fulfill his campaign promises, and deviating from his pre-election stance in light of the high cost of living.
The lawmaker asserted on Sunday during a church service in Nandi County that the remarks made by the South African politician had devalued President Ruto.
”We are giving Malema the next five days to make an unreserved apology to the President and the Government and he should never be given a passport and a Visa to come to Kenya,” the Senator said during the church service.
”I want to ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to demand an apology from Julius Malema and EFF of South Africa and deny him Visa and passport from coming to Kenya,” the Senator further stated.
Malema’s statements, in the opinion of Cherargey, were an offense to the Presidency and the Republic of Kenya.

The Senator expressed these views a few days after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua criticized the South African politician for criticizing Ruto, querying whether his remarks were warranted in light of comparable challenges facing South Africa.
”I heard a certain leader from South Africa criticizing the government. I was in South Africa and they ration electricity for 7 hours but I did not criticize them,” Gachagua stated.
Malema, who was in Kenya to inaugurate the Pan African Institute at Lukenya University, recanted his earlier remarks in which he urged Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio, to support Ruto and embrace the results of the 2022 election.
The outspoken leader of the EFF expressed his displeasure with how President William Ruto had neglected to fulfill his commitments.
“I don’t know if President William Ruto means it because he said so many things, and I can’t locate him these days, because the things he said during the election and the things he’s doing now are two different things,” he stated.
Malema further cast doubt on the veracity of Ruto’s Pan-Africanism initiative, stating that the actions of the Head of State starkly contrast with his rhetoric.
