This notice came after the National Assembly saw 281 MPs support the impeachment motion, surpassing the constitutional requirement of 233 votes.

During the session, the Senate will also determine whether the case will be heard by a committee or the plenary, as the Senate serves as the trial chamber.

Documents sent to the Senate by National Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge, as seen by Gossipa2z.com, included 26 copies of evidence supporting the impeachment motion against Gachagua.

“Enclosed is the message regarding the National Assembly’s resolution to approve a Special motion for the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua,” part of the document stated.

The submitted materials included Mwengi Mutuse’s Special motion notice and affidavit, electronic evidence on a flash drive, public perception reports, advertisements, and responses from Gachagua regarding the motion.
