Secrets Unveiled: What Daddy Owen’s Mother Told Charlene Ruto in Home Visit
Margaret Mwatia, the mother of Daddy Owen, reportedly conveyed a heartfelt message to Charlene Ruto, daughter of President William Ruto, following Charlene’s visit to Daddy Owen’s residence in Eshieywe, Kakamega, on December 23, 2023.
In an interview with a nearby media outlet, Andrew Shiroko Shilenje, the Secretary of the Abatsotso Cultural Council of Elders who was present at the initial event, conveyed that Margaret offered blessings to Charlene Ruto.
“Charlene has invited the way we invite a woman who has joined our community as a wife.
“The message from the mother-in-law to the daughter-in-law was very clear…’ let your marriage life blossom and bring forth children,” Shilenje, the insider, claimed in the interview with the Standard’s Nairobian.
However, he didn’t confirm whether Daddy Owen, the artist behind System ya Kapungala, actually proposed to Charlene, despite widespread claims.
However, he clarified that the customs observed during the ceremony, such as the way Dady Owen’s mother welcomed Charlene and the gifts she was given, indicated a bond or connection.
Daddy Owen, who has split from his wife, Farida Wambui, chose not to verify whether they were romantically involved. Instead, he stated that they were collaborators in business and maintained a friendship.
“2023 was a good year! I thank GOD! I had so many highlights, but the climax, the pinnacle, and the crowning moment came at the tail end of the year when Charlene Ruto visited my home in Eshieywe a.k.a Kakamega.”

“We celebrated with songs, dance, and ululations! Abhashiere came with their best dancing shoes to whirl to the real Isikuti made from the tough “imbulu” skin! We ate various Abatsotso traditional delicacies. Ebhusang’ang’a village was happy. My mum was happy. She loves guests.. and the guests were happy as well!” Owen wrote on his social media pages.
Charlene Ruto could not be reached for a statement. Similarly, the President’s daughter has not posted any pictures of the occasion on her social media profiles, unlike Owen.
In the images posted by the famous gospel musician, Charlene was seen wearing a red blouse paired with a blue leso wrapped around her waist.
She was also captured dancing to Isikuti and receiving groundnuts in a pot.
Nevertheless, Charlene uploaded a video on December 25, 2023, featuring herself and Owen, also recognized as Owen Mwatia, distributing shopping vouchers to Kenyans aboard Matatus.
Charlene noted that, based on what they observed, 70 percent of the commuters were young individuals, supporting the idea that the youth hold the key to the future.
“Tumepatana na students na watu wanafanya kazi, watu wana hustle, so we have recorded and we will see how we can support some of them,” Charlene stated then.
